Optimization of Stress Concentration Factor of Machined Alloy Steel Shaft

This project focuses on analysing a rotating alloy steel shaft subjected to bending and torsional loads. Stress concentration factors were determined using both manual calculations and Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS), and the results were compared to evaluate accuracy. The design was further optimised by introducing a groove to reduce stress concentration and improve the factor of safety for infinite fatigue life.
